摘要

In this paper we present numerical and experimental investigations\udon the synchronization of the instabilities originated by the\udmutual coupling of two semiconductor lasers in face to face\udconfiguration. We have restricted ourselves to the analysis of two\udlasers with identical parameters and operating at the same\udfrequency. Numerical simulations are based on standard rate\udequations for each semiconductor laser whereas the mutual\udinjection is modeled by including delayed optical fields.\udExperiments are performed using almost identical Fabry Perot\udlasers coupled through the TE component. As soon as the coupling\udstrength is increased we observe fluctuations in the power\uddynamics that appears synchronized except for a small time lag.\udThis asymmetric operation of the perfectly symmetric system allows\udto differentiate between leader and laggard lasers.\udSynchronization properties are studied making use of the\udsynchronization plots and cross-correlation measurements.\udExtensive investigations of the dependence of the time traces and\udcorrelation degree on the coupling strength and current level\uddemonstrate good agreement between numerical and experimental\udobservations.
